PERSONAL ORAL HYGIENE
(How to Clean and Keep Your
Teeth)
Preface
The following information is intended to give an overview of a proper method of preventing gum disease and tooth decay. Proper instruction in prevention should be taken from a qualified oral health care professional.
Preventing tooth decay and gum disease is possible, The instructions that follow are no guarantee, but, practiced daily, with care to clean all areas of the teeth and gums, should set you on the path to a healthy mouth. Like most people, you probably have spent a couple of dollars on a brush, bought the dental floss and mouthwash, and brush every day, but still have decay and gum disease. If this is the case, then you have not been taught the proper method of cleaning your teeth.
Disclosing wafers are an aid to showing where the bacteria are. whether before cleaning or after you clean. By dyeing the bacteria bright red, you can see where the brush or floss has missed. Using a toothbrush with soft, polished, end rounded bristles is the best type of brush to use. Dental floss that is thin and unwaxed cleans best, in our opinion. How you hold your brush and floss, how you move the brush and floss is important, but only as long as your teeth get cleaned.
Do what is comfortable and effective for you. You can tell if your teeth are clean by looking for the red of the disclosing tablet. If it is gone, your teeth are probably clean. Many ways of cleaning the teeth are professed, but the one you should follow is the one that is comfortable for you. Only you can do the work that will keep you teeth clean and healthy.
