We
were founded in 1961 by Robert G. Jones, D.D.S.
This was a new and controversial idea. By disrupting and disorganizing the bacteria in the oral cavity daily, it seemed that the disease could indeed be prevented. The organized and concentrated colonies of bacteria would produce, as a byproduct of their living, certain acids that would etch into the tooth surface, causing decay, or cause the teeth to become loose in their sockets by overwhelming the ligaments that attach a tooth to the socket. Simply by cleaning the teeth properly once a day, one could prevent a disease that has afflicted mankind for all time. Unfortunately, the tools then in the market place to clean teeth were not up to the job. In his studies, Dr. Bass determined that to effectively clean the teeth and the gum line, toothbrushes of the day often did more harm than good, because the bristles were made of material that would damage soft gum tissue and even wear away the tooth enamel. Dental floss was virtually unknown, and even scorned in some circles of dentistry. Dr. Bass determined that a soft nylon bristle, with care taken to polish the end so no sharp edges were left, would be the best type of bristle. His ideas on dental floss were that " the thinner the better " was the way to go. Dr. Jones’ patients could not buy this type of toothbrush or dental floss, so with permission, he started Oral Health Products, Inc. We have been manufacturing soft, end rounded bristle toothbrushes and the thinnest, finest dental floss ever since. Headquarters of the Corporation are in Tulsa, Oklahoma, U.S.A. We supply dentists in every state in the union, and serve the needs of people the world over. Oral Health does not follow every faddish new trend in toothbrush design. We follow the philosophy that proper preventive personal oral hygiene technique is in your head, not in your hand. In keeping with this philosophy, we have aimed our efforts at improving the methods and processes that we use in manufacturing our products, with an eye to decreasing the cost to the consumer and improving quality of workmanship. |
